A COMPETITION inspired by TV’s Great British Bake Off will be held in Russells Water village hall on April 20.

The Great Village Bake Off will feature six categories for adults — large cake, small cake, biscuits, pie/tart, tray bake and bread/rolls — and a junior category (under-18s).

Entries will be judged on taste and appearance. The judges will be Frederic Gencarelli, head pastry chef at the Quince Tree in Stonor, Joanna Bains and Loraine Hussey, better known as the Cake Makers, from Watlington, and Polly Oxby, a Masterchef finalist in 2011.

The winner will receive a cup and be given a mini- masterclass by the Quince Tree patisserie chefs. Each category winner will win a signed copy of Mary Berry’s Baking Bible.

The competition costs £5 to enter (no limit on number of categories) and the closing date is April 13. Entry forms can be downloaded at www.russellswater.org.uk

Tickets for the event are available from the Quince Tree, Hubbledays in Henley, the Granary in Watlington and the Field Kitchen in Nettlebed.
