Target is smashed

MORE than £625 was raised for Cancer Research UK at a school coffee morning.

MORE than £625 was raised for Cancer Research UK at a school coffee morning.

Parents and grandparents supplied a range of cakes and there were stalls selling jewellery, clothes and fruit and vegetables at the event at St Mary’s School in St Andrew’s Road.

Parent Karen Washbourn, who organised the sale, said: “I set myself a target of £500 but I didn’t tell anybody because I thought it was a little bit unrealistic so I was delighted that we raised more than that.”

Susie Gerhartz, fund-raiser for the Henley branch of the charity, said: “Any way to raise money is great as cancer is a disease that affects so many people.”
