THE Wargrave branch of the RNLI has raised more than £10,500 in the past year.

THE Wargrave branch of the RNLI has raised more than £10,500 in the past year.

The charity held its annual meeting at Hare Hatch village hall last month, where a review of the year was presented by George Rawlinson, newly appointed head of lifeboat operations for the charity.

Mr Rawlinson, who was born in Henley and lived in Wargrave until 1990, said: “We provide lifeboats and lifeguards and do flood rescue work as well as education and prevention. The support in the Wargrave, Twyford and Henley areas has been excellent and we are extremely grateful for that as it means we can provide this amazing service.

“I come back to take part in the Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta and have regular visits to where I grew up so I still feel like a local.”

House-to-house collections will start in Wargrave next weekend.
