Caught out by sun

JULIAN WALKER, from Peppard, took part in the marathon for the third time and raised more than £3,000 for Sue Ryder in memory of family friend Terry Simpson.

The 44-year-old, who owns Henley funeral directors A B Walker & Son, was disappointed to finish in a time of four hours and 28 minutes.

He said: “I was aiming to beat my previous time and had three hours and 45 minutes as a goal.

“All my training runs have been in the dark with snow, frost and lashing rain and the wonderful warm sunny weather on race day caught me out. I suffered from dehydration and cramp at about 18 miles. However, I do have a wonderful vest-shaped tan.”
