A CHARITY match at Goring and Streatley Golf Club raised more than £6,000 for Arthritis Research UK.

Almost 100 club members and visitors took part in the team competition.

It was won by Thomas Mills, Sarah Brownlee, John Mills, Joseph Almond and Peter Buckley, who took home a bottle of champagne.

The challenge, organised by Mrs Brownlee, is now in its eighth year. It is held with the support of Arthritis Research UK’s local committee, which was founded 42 years ago.

Committee member Irene Matthews, of Nuns Acre, Goring, said: “We want to express our appreciation to all the businesses and individuals who made such generous donations and, of course, to all the players who made it such a fun event.”
