A TOTAL of £1,407 was raised in Henley on the fifth annual Armed Forces Day in aid of Help for Heroes.
Henley army cadets collected donations in the town centre from 8.30am to 4pm on Saturday.
It was one of a large number of events held across the country to show support for the armed forces and raise public awareness of their contribution.
Organiser Catherine Hunter said: “The people who donated were very generous. Every penny counts and goes towards injured servicemen and women.”
Mrs Hunter, of Gravel Hill, Henley, is now stepping down from the role after five years during which £13,000 has been raised.
She said: “I started the year before my son, who is in the Royal Engineers, served in Afghanistan. Now I am 72 and think I have done my bit.
“I would like to say thank you to all who have donated so generously.”
