ABOUT 100 people attended a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event at the Christ Church Centre in Henley on Friday.

Visitors included members of the Bluebells group of pensioners and parents and children from the Nappy Wearers toddler group, which both meet at the Reading Road centre, as well as church regulars and their friends and families.

The event was organised by centre manager Vanessa Bird and volunteer Heather Clark.

They were helped by a team of about 20 volunteers who served hot drinks and home-made cakes and donated chocolates and wine as prizes in a raffle. Mrs Bird said: “It was very busy with lots of different people coming in and there was a lovely atmosphere.

“We even had members of the Henley WeightWatchers group, although they brought their own cakes.”

The event raised £738 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
