A LADIES? day at Henley Rugby Club raised £782.76 for Breast Cancer Care.

About 120 people enjoyed a three-course lunch at the event, where local businesses had set up stalls in return for donating a raffle prize. Lawrence Menswear made a cash donation to the charity and Lookers Land Rover donated money towards the champagne reception.

The Hawks players wore pink socks during their match against the Hull Ionians to show their support.

Joanna Emmerson, the club?s commercial manager, said: ?The event was all about getting ladies to the club, making them realise that they are just as welcome as the men, and raising money for a good cause.

?We are absolutely thrilled by the amount raised and we hope to run another event this season, probably after Christmas.?
