GORING Youth Club has bought a new carpet with a £400 donation from the village’s Lions Club.
The carpet has been fitted in the games room at the community centre in Station Road, where the youngsters meet on Wednesday nights.
Oxfordshire County Council used to fund the club but withdrew its subsidy to cut costs.
It is run by seven volunteers and needs £3,000 a year to keep going.
It is open to boys and girls aged 11 to 18, who pay a £5 annual subscription fee and a further £1 per visit.
Manager Mike Cornfield said: “We’re very grateful as the old carpet was getting pretty tatty.
“This one is nice and hard-wearing, which is what you need with all the food and drink that’s coming in and out.”
