John Howell MP: Why I wear a poppy

I WEAR my poppy to focus my remembrance on the brave men and women who gave their lives in war so that we may all live and those who have been injured in these and subsequent conflicts.

I WEAR my poppy to focus my remembrance on the brave men and women who gave their lives in war so that we may all live and those who have been injured in these and subsequent conflicts.

I wear it with extreme pride but without the need for a great outpouring of emotion.

For remembrance is both a solemn thing to do and also a quiet and personal one. It is important to bear in mind that this is not just about remembrance of the dead. It is also about remembrance of the living and the welfare work undertaken to help servicemen and women.
