Why I wear a poppy

I WEAR my poppy with pride. This time of year gives me the opportunity to show my support for our military personnel.

It is important that we do not forget the many sacrifices they have made over the years to keep Britain and its people safe.

Over recent years they have also supported vulnerable people elsewhere in the world, such as Kosovo and Kuwait, as well as fighting terrorist threats in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Often far from home, often in a cause that may seem remote from the UK, I value their commitment and bravery, their sacrifice and suffering.
