THE Christ Church Centre in Henley raised £2,800 at its annual Christmas fair.

Volunteers made the most of the goods on offer, which included scarves and other accessories knitted by the centre?s Busy Bees craft group.

There were 15 stalls selling mostly hand-made goods ranging from candles and decorations to house plants, jewellery and books. Visitors enjoyed home-made cakes and hot lunches and took part in a charity raffle and tombola.

Henley Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak and Mayoress Catherine Allan-Notaras? mother Betty Allan were among the guests.

Vanessa Bird, who manages the centre in Reading Road, said: ?There was a friendly atmosphere and a real buzz.? The proceeds will go towards the upkeep of Christ Church and the services it offers to the community.
