A COUPLE who decorated their house and garden with Christmas lights raised more than £1,000 for charity.

John and Carole Lambourne installed 32 sets of lights at their home in Kennylands Road, Sonning Common, throughout December.

They collected donations from villagers and raised a total of £1,200 for Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Their festive display included Christmas trees, reindeer, stars and Father Christmas on his sleigh.

Mr Lambourne said: “The lights looked fantastic and we got a great response from everyone in the area. The villagers haven’t stopped talking about it.

“We have always had Christmas lights at the house but last year my wife suggested we should do something for charity.

“We doubled the amount this year so we are over the moon.”
