GORING’S village newsletter awarded more than £10,000 worth of grants last year.

Goring Gap News gave £3,000 to the organisers of the first Goring and Streatley Festival in the summer.

It donated £750 to Goring Gap in Bloom for new planters and £600 towards the Goring and Streatley Local History Society’s First World War centenary exhibition.

It gave the Goring Robins youth football team £1,000 to set up a new girls’ squad and £350 to the Mobility Issues Group for Goring and Streatley for the upkeep of the Readibus dial-a-ride scheme.

It also pledged £2,000 towards the group’s campaign to widen the pavement in Wallingford Road and £2,500 to causes in Streatley.
