Event marks Nutrition and Hydration Week

AN event promoting healthy eating was held at Sunrise Senior Living in Sonning.

AN event promoting healthy eating was held at Sunrise Senior Living in Sonning.

Residents and members of their families learnt about how the care home provides for their different nutritional needs. Chefs provided a number of starters, mains and puddings, all using fresh ingredients. There were also dishes suitable for people with dysphagia, such as soups and smoothies, which the guests were able to try.

The event, called Taste of Sunrise, was to mark Nutrition and Hydration Week. Maggie Griffith, director of community relations, said: “Dining for a lot of our residents is the focal part of the day and it is important that what they are served gives them something to look forward to.

“This was a chance to educate people about the need for a nutritious diet as you grow older.”
