Golfers raise thousands for Diabetes charity

GOLFERS in Crazies Hill raised more than £4,000 for Diabetes UK.

GOLFERS in Crazies Hill raised more than £4,000 for Diabetes UK.

Members of Hennerton Golf Club raised the money at functions arranged by club captains Barbara Langdale and Lars Swann over the past year.

These included barbecues, coffee mornings and the club’s annual charity day in July.

Representatives from Diabetes UK visited the club to receive a cheque and revealed that the money would be spent on family weekends for children suffering from the disease.

Mrs Langdale said: “A lot of members either have diabetes or know people that have it. We wanted the money to go locally too, which is why we didn’t choose a multinational charity.

“The response was fantastic and the members are always so willing to help.”

The club’s ladies’ captain for the next year is Ruth Cassidy while Mr Swann will continue as men’s captain.

Joe Hanbury and Felicity Deaney will be senior and junior captains respectively.
