THERE is still time to book a place at a free tea party in Henley for residents over 65.

THERE is still time to book a place at a free tea party in Henley for residents over 65.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 14 to coincide with the Queen’s official 89th birthday at the d:two centre in Market Place from 3pm to 5pm.

It is being organised by Gail Lewis and Paul Westgarth, of the Henley Business Partnership, Home Instead, Time Finders, Orchard House and Signature Cliveden Manor to provide a summer equivalent of the Mayor’s Christmas party for the elderly.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Kitty Mazinsky, whose set includes classics from the Twenties to the Sixties, and the Henley brownies and guides, who will recite poetry.

The party will culminate with Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem as well as the loyal toast and National Anthem.

Food will be provided by Time for Tea and the new mayor of Henley will attend.

Paul Westgarth, director of Home Instead, said: “We recognise that it can be difficult to get out and about to meet people so we want to offer the senior citizens of Henley and the surrounding villages a chance to get together for a celebration tea party. Come and join us, meet the new mayor and commemorate the 89th birthday of the Queen.”

The free event is open to anyone over 65 from Henley and the surrounding areas. To book or nominate someone for a place, call Mrs Lewis on 01628 638416 or email her at gail.lewis@thehenleypartnership.co.uk
