It’s a Magna Arta!

Sunrise Senior Living of Sonning is celebrating the return of Art of Sunrise — a powerful campaign that champions art for older people.

The community will be hosting an exhibition from June 19 to 26, beginning with a whole day of activities for Care Home Open Day, including a celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.

As part of a day steeped in the majestic history of England, Carla Bennett will be giving a talk on the Magna Carta from 10.30am on June 19, with the exhibition, featuring works produced by residents from each of Sunrise’s 27 UK communities, officially opening at 1.30pm.

Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon and all are encouraged to attend.

Art is a big feature of life at Sunrise. Residents have the opportunity to explore their artistic talents during taster sessions and art classes held regularly at their communities.

These sessions are entertaining and creative, but art can be much more than a pastime â?? it can play a crucial role for residents living with forms of memory loss, as it keeps their mind active and can act as a form of therapy.
