AN equestrian event held at the Tree Barn in Christmas Common raised £1,200 for Sue Ryder and the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.

There were more than 40 entries to the Trec competition, which comprises a cross-country ride following a route on a map, a course of obstacles such as opening and closing a gate and riding past roadworks and performing a slow canter and fast walk.

It was organised by Julie Anne Broadhurst, of Thames Valley Riding Club, and Liz Beddows, of Trec4All and South-East Trec, who run events to encourage new riders.

They said the riders enjoyed a beautiful ride through the Chilterns, passing through bluebell woods and open fields with spectacular views.
