RESIDENTS of Binfield Heath opened their gardens to the public and raised £3,500 for charity.

Homeowners in Kiln Lane, Common Lane, Harpsden Road and Heathfield Avenue took part in the initiative for the 12th successive year.

The event included the sal of plants, cards and tea and cakes as well as a raffle which raised money for the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.

Liam Trotman and Grace Hodgkinson, from Orwells pub in Shiplake, also ran a stand selling cakes, sweets and breads in aid of the trust.

Christine Head organised the event and opened her garden, which includes a water feature and vegetable patch. She said: “I think people enjoyed the day and we had perfect weather for it.

“We have been running the open gardens for more than 10 years and the number of people both taking part and visiting has increased.

“We keep running the event and people keep coming back and we see more new faces each year. It’s fantastic to raise £3,500 for a great charity.”
