STAFF at Waitrose in Henley raised more than £1,000 for charity by completing the London to Brighton bike ride.

Branch manager Alex Hume and supermarket assistants Angela Clark, Megan Thatcher and Vikki Bray were joined by Jack Martin, assistant section manager at the Marlow store, for the 54-mile ride. They were cycling in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Russell Young, who is also a supermarket assistant at the Henley store, raised £400 for cancer charity Sarcoma UK because Tom Eckles, the brother of a fellow employee, suffers from the disease.

Miss Clark said: “This is the third year in six that I’ve done it. I first did it in 2010 because Holly Bradley, a young lady who works here, has a son Sebastian who was born with a major heart defect.”

She thanked their supporters, including her son Jake Clark, fiancé Neil Smith, Dan Butler, his fiancé Leighanne Groocock, Mrs Bray’s husband David and Stephen Murray.
