TWO defibrillators are to be installed in Shiplake after a fund—raising appeal reached its target.

TWO defibrillators are to be installed in Shiplake after a fund—raising appeal reached its target.

The £1,500 devices will be set up at the Baskerville restaurant in Station Road and Shiplake Memorial Hall in Memorial Avenue.

Donations came from residents, the parish council, Shiplake Village Community Club and the village bowls club.

The British Heart Foundation and the Millie’s Dream appeal, which is based in Henley, also contributed. The life—saving machines are locked in protective boxes which can be opened with a code from a 999 operator.

They are automatic so will not deliver a shock unless they detect an irregular heartbeat in the patient.

A training session will be held at a venue yet to be confirmed at 9.30am on August 15. To sign up visit  www.shiplakevillages.com
