A TEAM of 14 management staff from Tesco in Henley repainted 20 metres of fencing at Nettlebed Community School.
After sanding down the tired—looking wooden fence, which goes along a walkway at the back of the school building, they painted over it with decking stain.
Simon Warren, store manager at the Henley branch, said: “The whole management team is out today because we wanted to do something in the local community. Groups from the school have visited our store twice for ‘food to fork’ tours to learn about where food comes from.
“We asked if we could come and give 14 hours of work to something that needed doing — so we’re painting the fence. It’s lovely to be out of the shop and in the community getting involved with a local school. The next time the team goes out we will be looking to do something similar.”
Paul Hankey, headteacher at the primary school, thanked the team from Tesco for coming to do the work. He said: “They wanted to help and do some kind of job for us. It would have taken my caretaker three days to do it but the group have completed the work it in an hour. You could call it a 60—minute makeover!”
