A PERMANENT food bank collection point has been installed at Tesco in Henley.

The Chiltern Centre for disabled children will receive the donations via food supply organisation FareShare.

Tesco kick-started the collection by donating about £3,000 worth of shelf-stable food, including tinned soup, dry pasta, baked beans, sauces and cereals.

Keith Manning, manager of the Chiltern Centre, said: ?It?s marvellous that Tesco are donating these goods and collecting for us.

?We?re indebted to and appreciate the support of the people of Henley and I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the children?s centre.?

Simon Warren, manager of the Tesco store in Reading Road, said: ?People can make small donations whenever they want. It will really help the charity.

?It?s important to me that we?re helping a local charity.?
