Fun day could become biennial

BOAT trips and a barbecue were enjoyed by about 30 members of the South Oxfordshire Mencap Society.

The annual event was held at Upper Thames Rowing Club in Remenham on Sunday.

Society chairman Paul Barrett said the number of attendees was down on previous years so in future the event might be held every other year instead. The barbecue was manned by members of Henley Lions Club, which sponsored the day.

Other attractions included a raffle, which was drawn by life president Melba Pitt, and music from Ken Fitt. Mr Barrett thanked the rowing club for providing the venue free of charge.

Meanwhile, on Saturday more than £500 was raised for the society with a collection at the Tesco supermarket in Henley.
