Dale Bartram, 45, of Milldown Road, hopes to raise £1,000 for Parkinsons UK by completing three sponsored challenges.
Earlier this month he took part in the Great North Run, a half marathon, and he will be entering the London’s Royal Parks half marathon on October 11 before running the full marathon distance in Dublin on October 26.
Mr Bartram, who is married with two children, has so far raised £550 for the charity, which he is supporting in memory of an uncle who had the disease.
He said: “Training hasn’t been as bad as I’d imagined, but we’ll see how I feel in a few weeks’ time. It’s for a good cause and I’ve lost a stone in weight which is an added benefit.”
