VOLUNTEERS gave communal hallways at Henley’s YMCA housing blocks a much-needed lick of paint.

The 60 staff from Level 3 Communications’ Europe, Middle East and Africa division helped out on Tuesday afternoon. Division president Andrew Crouch said the work was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

The employees took time out from a three-day leadership forum being held at Danesfield House Hotel, near Medmenham.

He said: “We encourage volunteer work among our employees to put something back into the community.”

Angela Healey, the YMCA’s chief executive, said: “I’d like to thank them with all my heart — they were awesome, absolutely fantastic.”

Building supplies and materials firm Gibbs & Dandy, based in Reading Road, donated the paint.
