A DAY centre for children with special needs in Wargrave has been given £2,820 by a Henley oil and gas consultancy.

A DAY centre for children with special needs in Wargrave has been given £2,820 by a Henley oil and gas consultancy.

ERCL presented the cheque to Camp Mohawk, off Highfield Lane, on Tuesday and the money will be used to pay for equipment for the centre’s music room.

Debbie Corcoran, office manager at ERCL in Station Road, said: “We chose Camp Mohawk as our 2015 charity because our boss’s daughter volunteered here a few summers ago and we wanted to donate to a local cause.

“It’s a lovely environment for everybody and a very special place. It brings out the adventure in the children.

“We raised the money through our regatta day in Henley, where we had an auction and raffle. We are delighted because normally we raise about £1,000 but this time it was almost three times that.”

Centre manager Chris Wilcox said: “We are absolutely delighted. We’ve got a few projects we are looking at and this money will go a long way towards those. I think the music room will benefit hugely.”
