Crisis talk

Students and staff at The Henley College learned more about the refugee crisis in Lesbos from a volunteer

Students and staff at The Henley College learned more about the refugee crisis in Lesbos from a volunteer who visited the Greek island. Sara Almeida (left) spoke about her experiences working in the Moria refugee camp.

The island has been the focus of attention due to the thousands of people arriving daily seeking passage to Europe. Miss Almeida illustrated bher talk with her own photographs and videos. She was accompanied to the island by her partner Jack Lewis, a former student at the college, whose mother June (right) works there. Miss Almeida, 23, was born in Portugal and came to the UK to study product design at university.

Following her degree, she worked on several projects focusing on social problems that could be solved through design, such as a restart kit for newly released prisoners and an emergency shelter for refugees.
