Club raises £28k for charities

FUND-RAISING events at Phyllis Court Club in Henley last year made more than £28,000 for local charities.

FUND-RAISING events at Phyllis Court Club in Henley last year made more than £28,000 for local charities.

The Phyllis Court Charity Action Group presented cheques to Helen and Douglas House and the South and Vale Carers Centre at its annual meeting on Wednesday.

The record total was raised with 10 events, including the traditional Christmas and spring fairs, a Frank Sinatra music night and a music hall evening.

Helen and Douglas House received £20,000 and South and Vale Carers was given the rest.

Action group chairwoman Diana Pearman said: “2015 was yet another successful fund-raising year for us.

“The organising group now has 12 members who generate new ideas and the club supports us with facilities and the venue. It’s very easy for us to raise money at this club because we are well supported and really do appreciate it.”
