HENLEY Town Council has awarded a £10,000 grant to Henley Women’s Regatta.

HENLEY Town Council has awarded a £10,000 grant to Henley Women’s Regatta. The money will go towards infrastructure for the annual event, including pontoons and boat tents.

A cheque was presented to representatives of the regatta by Mayor Lorraine Hillier and Councillor Will Hamilton, chairman of the council’s finance committee.

Cllr Hamilton said: “It’s a brilliant event and we want to continue to support it.”

Miriam Luke, chairwoman of the regatta, said the regatta had carried out research which showed the event brings £300,000 of business to the town every year.

This year’s regatta will take place from June 17 to 19.
