THE letter to the residents from Calcot Services for Children said: “We are a group of residential children’s homes which currently operates within Reading and Wokingham.

“We have been established since 1989 and I would invite you to look at our website to find out more about us and our homes.

“We currently have five children’s homes which are all registered with Ofsted and are rated as good or outstanding. Ofsted visits and inspects our homes twice a year. We have recently purchased Orchard Lodge, which will no longer be a home for elderly residents but will be registered with Ofsted as a home for children and young people aged five to 18.

“We wanted to introduce ourselves and also inform you that our team of builders will commence work at the property during the beginning of February.

“We will make every attempt that neighbours are not disturbed by any building works at the home and changes are only cosmetic to include new doors, windows and repairs to the roof. Building work will only take place between 8am and 6pm and every effort will be made for minimal disruption to neighbours.

“To the back of the home additional car parking will be made to include a new driveway to ensure that car parking is sufficient for the home, again having minimal impact on the neighbouring roads.

“We are looking to be registered for opening in the spring and will keep you updated.”
