Brendan McKevitt amd Val Action, the two captains of Reading Golf Club in Kidmore End Road, Emmer Green, presented cheques for £6,500 each to representatives of Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service and Reading Autism Families Together. Julia Philipson, community fund-raiser at Alexander Devine, which is building a children’s hospice near Maidenehad, said: “Thank you to Valerie and all the members for choosing to support us. Such local great support makes a huge difference to a charity like ours and with our children’s hospice build in progress the members can see first hand the difference they are making.” A spokesman for RAFT, which provides support and play opportunities for families affected by autism, said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation and will use the money to continue to provide support as well as experiences for our children that they struggle to access elsewhere due to the high level of support needed and their sensory issues.”
