A CHARITY bridge drive was held at Harpsden village hall. There were 18 tables of four people and the enthusiasts enjoyed some friendly competition and bread, cheese and wine donated by Lawlors Bakery, Gabriel Machin Butcher and Laithwaite wine. There was also a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses. With the addition of a donation from Schroder’s Bank, the event raised £1,600 which will be divided equally between the Chiltern Centre for disabled children in Henley and the Thames Valley branch of the British Red Cross. Harriet Barcella, community fund-raiser for the Chiltern Centre said: “We are so grateful to the team who put together this fantastic event. It was extremely well received and raised a really valuable sum of money. It is only with the support of the local community and events like these that the Chiltern Centre is able to continue to help disabled children and young people.” Paula Falck, of British Red Cross, said: “Thank you to all involved in this event, organisers, sponsors and guests.” Pictured, left ot right, of Suzanna Rose, president British Red Cross, Berkshire, Henley town, district and county councillor David Nimmo Smith and Ba Snell, vice-patron of the Chiltern Centre
