A PUB quiz hosted by University Challenge host Jeremy Paxman raised £2,217 for Sue Ryder.
The event took place at the Five Horseshoes in Maidensgrove, which is owned by Brakspear and run by Tracey and Dan Taverner.
The couple said: “We are delighted at the success of our quiz night. Our customers really enjoyed it and to raise this amount of money is fantastic. Jeremy really made the evening and we are so thankful to him for giving his time to support such an important cause.
“The Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice provides a vital service and we are so proud of what we have achieved.
“We could not have done it without all our generous suppliers, who donated food and wine for the evening, and all our incredible waitresses who volunteered on the night.” Tracey Hancock, head of fund-raising at the charity, said: “We are very grateful to Tracey and Dan, their suppliers, the waitresses, those who attended and, of course, the incredible Jeremy Paxman for supporting this fantastic evening.”
The Five Horseshoes is one of dozens of Brakspear pubs attempting to raise £50,000 for Sue Ryder in a year.
