Five people plan to swim from Oxford to Henley to raise money for the the Chiltern Centre for disabled children in Henley. The 50-mle challenge will start at Osney Lock in Oxford on July 14 and finish at the Angel on the Bridge in Henley three days later.

To launch the fund-raising, they are putting on a cruise on Hobbs of Henley’s New Orleans on May 26 from 7.15pm to 9.15pm. There will be live music from local performer Jake Molloy a glass of prosecco on arrival and canapés courtesy of the Spice Merchant restaurant in Thames Side. Swimmer Phillip Cater said: “We are really excited about this epic swim.

The Chiltern Centre is a fantastic local charity that supports disabled children and their families. Our goal is to raise £15,000, which will fund one of the on-site nurses for nine months.” Tickets for the cruise cost £25. To book, visit http://buytickets.at./thechilterncentre
