Tesco donates toiletries

A TROLLEY full of toiletries donated by Tesco in Henley will be donated to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

A TROLLEY full of toiletries donated by Tesco in Henley will be donated to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

About 35 gift sets, including shower gels and deodorant, will be used by Rosehill WI to help create courtesy packs of toiletries which are for patients who are admitted in an emergency.

Ali Simmons, Tesco’s community champion, presented the goods to WI member Doris Goddard, 72, from Caversham Park, at the Reading Road store. The branch has made two previous donations to the WI, including more than 200 bars of soap.

Mrs Goddard said: “They’re for anyone who is attending the Royal Berks in an emergency. We’ve been doing it for two years as part of something that used to be done by the hospital’s League of Friends. We should do what we can because we expect so much from the NHS. The WI is renowned for helping in this kind of situation.”

Each courtesy pack contains deodorant, shower gel, toothpaste, a toothbrush plus a razor and comb in the packs for men.

If any other businesses would like to make donations, send an email to Mrs Goddard at goddard_s2@sky.com
