On water for water

DEBBIE FLOOD has been back in action at this year’s Henley Royal Regatta but this time it’s off the water she is hoping to make a lasting impact.

Today (Friday) she is hosting a stand at the Leander Club enclosure giving information about Drop by Drop, a fund-raising project to provide clean water for people in Mozambique.

The double Olympic silver medallist and fellow Leander Club athlete are Nick Middleton will be there trying to encourage competitors and rowers to donate.

The project is run by Village Water, which was founded in 2003 to support communities in Zambia through wells, safe water and sanitation. It is now looking to replicate its success in Mozambique.

Debbie said: “£100 is not a huge amount of money to raise, but if everyone in the rowing community gets involved the impact we make can be huge.

“We spend so much time out on the water that it makes sense to support a charity whose work brings safe water to so many people.”
