Henley in check

HENLEY pulled out all the stops in their match against a strong Reading B side, and got through to the final of the Mick Tarrant Trophy competition for the second time in three years.

Captain Roger Betts was in good form and scored a win for Henley in the final minutes. Andy Eagle, Kelly Riley and Doug Emmett drew their games and this was enough for Henley to win the match 2.5-3.5 on handicap.

Henley will play either Maidenhead or Bourne End in the final.

Henley also defeated Reading C 4-2 with wins from Betts, Riley and Steve Pitt and draws from Ed Batstone and Martin Walker.

Henley’s winning streak continued into their final league match of the season against Newbury. With wins from Riley and Emmett and no losses, Henley again won 4-2 to secure the team’s place in Division 2 next season.
