HENLEY Chess Club punched well above its weight against a strong Reading ‘B’ side as they progressed to the next round of the Mick Tarrant Trophy competition.
Club captain Roger Betts was on good form and scored a fine win in the final minutes of the session.
Andy Eagle, Kelly Riley and Doug Emmett all drew their games against tough opposition, which meant that Henley won the match 2.5-3.5 on handicap.
In the recent match against Bourne End ‘B’, Betts again scored the only win for Henley.
Riley and Ed Batstone both drew their games, as Henley were forced to concede the match 4-2.
