Batstone wins shield

HENLEY got their new season off to an encouraging start with a win against Wellington College.

HENLEY got their new season off to an encouraging start with a win against Wellington College.

Ed Batstone, Kelly Riley and Steve Pitts won their games, while Roger Betts drew, to clinch a 3.5-2.5 win for Henley.

In their next match Henley will be playing at home to Sandhurst B.

Meanwhile Batstone won the club shield as the most successful player of last season.

Batstone scored the most points for Henley in the Berkshire League competition, and was awarded the Vesselo Shield for winning the club’s rapidplay tournament. Runner-up was Betts.
