IF you want to buy local and free-range this Christmas then visit Red Lion farm shop at Britwell Salome near Watlington.

The beef, pork and lamb are from fields around the village and raised by farmers you could meet any day in the shop. The turkeys are from Aldworth and the beef is born and raised in the parish and is hung by them on the bone for a minimum of three weeks.

The shop’s pork comes from the farm’s small free-range herd so not only the joints but the bacon and the sausages are all free-range. Compare the beef and pork with the supermarkets for quality and price — they hope you will find that meat from the farm shop tastes better and is the better value — and you will also be supporting traditional mixed farming in your area.

If you would like to order meat in time for Christmas please place orders by December 15.

The shop is behind the Red Lion at Britwell Salome, one mile from Watlington, five miles from Nettlebed and 10 miles from Henley. Usual opening hours are Tuesday to Friday, 8.30am to 6pm, Saturday until 5pm and Sunday 9am to 12 noon.

For more details or to place a Christmas order call (01491) 612070.
