Enjoy a craft-filled weekend

IF you only go to one event next weekend — November 21 and 22

IF you only go to one event next weekend — November 21 and 22 — it should be Crafts for Christmas, in Checkendon, open from 10am to 4.30pm each day.

Spread between the village hall and the school hall some 20 yards apart, this fair will have more than 30 stalls, all selling crafts of the highest quality and originality.

Everything will have been made by the individual stallholders, and nothing will have been “bought in”, so you are sure to find exciting Christmas gifts for even the most discerning of recipients.

There’s feltwork, silver, mosaics, all sorts of woodwork, pottery, teddy bears, patchwork, honey, water colours, sculpture, jewellery, chocolate ... and much, much more.

As well as this feast of creativity, there’s another feast waiting for you too — the scrumptious homemade refreshments provided by the volunteers of the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

Make sure you come hungry! Plus, at unspecified times during the day, mulled wine will be passed round free of charge!

As well as having a thoroughly good day, sorting all your Christmas shopping, raising money for the air ambulance, you will also be helping fund the work of the Willow Group, a small local charity which supports the families of stillborn babies.

All the proceeds of the wonderful raffle, which includes a huge hamper full of goodies for Christmas, will go to the Willow Group.

Entry is free! Any queries, please phone either 07894 994047 or 07860 909028.
