Bishop drops in for tea

THE Bishop of Oxford visited Shiplake church on a 100-mile pilgrimage through his diocese.

The Rt Rev John Pritchard was joined by dozens of other walkers for the eighth day of his challenge on Thursday last week, when he walked 11 miles from Tilehurst to Shiplake.

He arrived at the Church of St Peter and St Paul at 4pm and enjoyed tea and cakes with parishioners.

He was also presented with a rare watercolour painting of the village by Shiplake artist Janet Duncan, who died from breast cancer in 2010.

Bishop John, who retires at the end of the month, was walking 100 miles along the Thames Path in 10 days to say farewell to his diocese after seven years.
