THE number of people visiting the Christ Church Centre in Henley has soared since it was redeveloped.
About 1,500 people visit the Reading Road centre each week, about 30 per cent more than before the £610,000 makeover and extension was completed in 2012.
Melinda Swann, the centre’s line manager, said: “I think the church plays a vital role in our community and not just from a religious point of view. A lot of people that come have got nothing to do with the church.
“We strive to serve our community on a number of levels with multiple opportunities.”
The centre has three halls, three rooms and a concourse which host 86 groups of three types — support groups, extracurricular activities and seasonal events.
