IT’S International Women’s Day next week, writes Lesley Potter, and what better way to celebrate with your mates than a night at the movies watching that most empowering of chick-flicks, Bridget Jones’s Diary?
The Regal Picturehouse is hosting the special film night next Thursday, March 7, in collaboration with Oxfam as part of the charity’s International Women’s Day Get Together campaign — and people all over the town are invited.
Tickets for the film, which starts at 6.30pm, include a free glass of Prosecco on arrival.
Scott Woodhouse, assistant manager of the Regal, said: “Although Picturehouses have a charity that we support called PLAN, we also try to help other local and national charities when we can.
“We felt that this was a great idea for a great cause, and a great charity in OXFAM. We are hopeful that we can raise a lot of money with an event that everyone will enjoy taking part in.”
If you wish to organise your own Get Together with friends and colleagues in March — which could be anything from bake sales and coffee mornings to film nights and gala dinners — visit www.oxfam.org.uk/ gettogether to find out more.
