GIANT rhubarb and pickled onions were among the goods on offer at a food swap in Wargrave.

Five traders attended Apples for Eggs at the Local Larder at Val Wyatt Marine, off Willow Lane. They swapped produce, home-made chili sauces and greetings cards.

Nothing is allowed to be paid for and everything has the the value of a six-pack of eggs.

Jessica Hayes, who organised the event, said: “It was a small but select group and we had some great swaps. There was a nice selection and everyone managed to go home with something. We are still trying to increase numbers and get more swapping going on. It’s a great location. The Local Larder is fantastic and we all stop for a cup of coffee and get something from the shop at the end.”

The initiative was started by Suri Poulos, from Henley.
