VIV GREENWOOD has done a splendid job in researching the history of the Makins family, tracking them down and producing a very interesting and attractive information board on the subject, which will be erected at the Greys Road entrance to Makins recreation ground (at the steps about half way up the road on the right/north side) tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am.

Viv says: “The Henley Archaeological and Historical Group have helped to fund a plaque about the Makins family, who contributed a great deal to Henley, beginning with Col William Makins, who purchased Rotherfield Court in 1872, through to Dwight Makins, the present Lord Sherfield, who will unveil the plaque. All welcome.”
