New flood defenders

VOLUNTEERS are needed to act as flood wardens in Charvil.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to act as flood wardens in Charvil.

Wokingham Borough Council wants to create flood groups in the village as well as Wargrave, which could then use council funds to help provide flood defences.

It is part of the council’s flood plan which will also see roads, including the A321 in Wargrave raised, building work prohibited within 8m of a river and residents and businesses told to keep their water courses clear.

Both Wargrave and Charvil are at risk from flooding from the River Loddon while Wargrave is also on the banks of the River Thames.
