Food swap events growing in popularity, say organisers

ABOUT a dozen people took part in the latest food swap event in Wargrave.

Apples for Eggs was held at the Local Larder at Val Wyatt Marine in Willow Lane on Saturday. Visitors could swap goods among themselves without any money changing hands as long as items were worth about the same as a box of six eggs.

The swappers brought produce including a giant pumpkin, which was carved up on the day, quinces and homemade jam. Organiser Jessica Hayes said: “It was brilliant. We had some new faces, which was really good as it meant we had more people there.

“I think it was one of the highest attendances we have had, so people are starting to hear about us. There will be another swap just before Christmas so hopefully word of mouth will spread and we can get even more people involved.”
